Plans for your Summer Corporate Events
Author: alewis
We are all hoping for a decent summer this year and with that thought in mind many corporate events organisers are busy sorting out suitable venues for their customers.
A lot of people men and also a fair amount of ladies really enjoy the game of golf. Planning business meetings at a golf course is a good idea. Often it is the case that people who have participated before are usually keen to do so again.
One of the most popular ideas is the “Scramble” this allows each player to tee off and then play is continued from the best shot. Another popular format is “Better Ball” and this will allow all the players to play their own ball but then only the best score in a foursome is recorded.
Golfers really enjoy competing for prizes which is great for circulating corporate gifts.
Cruising and Sailing is also popular. What could be better than a day spent on the water? Chartering a private yacht or boat for the day is the ultimate experience. There are companies that charter Tall Ships, historic Sailing Barges and Paddle Steamers.
Some events that are organised on board these ships are whiskey, wine, champagne and spirit tasting cruises to rather unusual “chocolate cruises”. This is a fascinating idea and in the day teams take on the challenge of designing their own chocolates, packaging, adverts and slogan.
There are also “cooking parties” arranged with top chefs that are in charge. These events are made to suit and can include hands on classes which is great once again for team building. What could be better than a themed African cruise including leading caterers and entertainment from the Caribbean?
So whether you are organising a staff party or an exclusive dinner party this cannot fail to please.
All we have to do now is keep our fingers firmly crossed for a great summer.

Consisting of nine magnificent and un-inhabited islands that run from north to the south off of the coast of amazing Thailand, the Similan Islands has quickly become one of the most popular diving destinations in the world. Most easily accessed by Similan Islands Liveaboard, the diving around the Similans and further north to the destinations of Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and world famous Richelieu Rock are considered by many as the crown jewels of diving in Thailand. Liveaboard Diving Thailand is an experience that should not be missed by those seeking the best diving in Southeast Asia.
What characterizes the Similan Islands as a world class dive destination is the choice of dive sites and diving options it provides to divers of every skill level. Dive sites on the eastern side of the islands are characterized by an almost overwhelming collage of color, it is like being part of a magnificent Monet landscape. Imagine sloping reefs, brilliantly colored soft corals, crystal clear bays, monolithic rock formations, combined with an explosion of tropical fish and you will have the picture. This is a macro photographer’s dream world come true and the photo opportunities are endless.
West facing dive sites are dramatically different than those on the east side of the islands, and will certainly provide a challenge for the more adventurous diver looking for an adrenaline rush. Massive granite boulder’s covered with anemones and soft corals litter the white sandy bottom. Many of these monoliths plummet well beyond recreational diving limits. These dives are certainly deep and not for inexperienced divers. Currents here are much stronger as well, providing an ample and rich supply of food for the larger pelagic’s such as Giant Mantas and the ever elusive Whale Shark. There is also an abundance of macro life to be found. Inspect the over hangs of coral bombies for shrimp, crabs, and a variety of frog fish. Frog fish, although masters of disguise can be found by those with keen eyes and lots of patience.
The best time to dive the Similan Islands National Park is from October to May, every year. It is during this time that the seas are glass like, the visibility is outstanding, and the large pelagic’s, Whale Sharks and Manta Rays, are making their annual migrations to feed on plankton blooms. The water temperature around the Similan Islands varies between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius, so most divers prefer a 3 mm wetsuit. Depending on environmental factors the water clarity ranges from 10 to 40 meters. Diving the nine islands of this archipelago can either be done by Similans Liveaboard or day trip diving from near by Phuket Island. The Similan Islands National Park closes from May to October when western Thailand is experiencing the southeastern monsoons.
Thailand is one of the top dive travel destinations in the world and has something to offer to divers of every experience level. Planning your dive holiday in advance is a must when visiting this area. The Similan Islands are in a protected national park and space on a quality Phuket Liveaboard is limited. Reserve your cabin well in advance. We recommend diving on Similan Liveaboards rather than by a day trip as there is so much to see. One day is not enough to truly experience the totality of this world class diving destination, but it is an option for those limited on time. Macro to massive the Similans justifiably rank as one of the absolute best diving holidays to be found anywhere on the planet.

Product Review of Sanyo HEC DR6700K Massage Chair
Author: Neil Mortensen
We will provide an evaluation of the luxury Sanyo HEC-DR6700 massage chair. The DR 6700 is made by Hitachi Electric Company for Sanyo. This product review will touch on some of the cool electronic features, massage therapy functions and warranty coverage. We present our analysis of the DR-6700 massage chair recliner.
Warranty is the first thing we want to cover and get out of the way. We are amazed at the pace in which features and functions are being added to massage chair. On the flip side of this we also advise our customers to make sure they get sufficient warranty coverage for their long term protection.
The warranty coverage of the Sanyo DR 6700K is 3 years on the roller mechanism. The roller mechanism is contained in the chair back and is responsible for providing the massage therapy for your back, neck and shoulders. Parts and Labor are both covered for 1 year for the rest of the massage chair. Sanyo also gives you 1 year of in home technician service. That means a qualified technician will come to your house and repair the massage chair.
The DR 6700 comes with 4 automatic massage programs. These are one-touch massage programs. They are based around the following themes: Stiffness, Recovery, Fine and Relax. With the touch of a button, the DR6700 will provide a full body massage for the time set. These programs run the whole chair, so all you have to do is sit back and relax.
Additionally, the Sanyo chair is armed with manual massage techniques. These can be used to target specific symptoms or areas of the body for relief. One of massage techniques for instance is called Grip. The Grip massage treatment uses a gripping action that can soothe and relieve tired and sore muscles. This type of massage is particularly effective for the shoulder and neck areas.
You have a number of options that can be selected with the DR 6700 massage chair. You can adjust the intensity of the massage. This makes it either softer or stronger depending on your desire. Also, the roller width can be changed. This is helpful if you want the spread of the rollers to hit a wider area of your back. Or for example, if you want the rolling massage to hit more of the cervical discs, then you can make it narrower.
Another great set of functions has to do where you can select the area of the back to be massaged. This is known as manual massage courses. These courses focus on a particular region of the back, like the lower back. Just select the manual massage technique and then the area you want it to focus. The massage then will use that technique in the area selected for the amount of time shown on the timer.
One of the interesting electronic features put into the Sanyo Dr-6700 is called the Stiffness Detector. The Stiffness Detector measures your perspiration level and monitors your pulse rate, but it doesn’t check if you are lying! The information is then read by the on-board computer and the massage program will target areas of higher tension.
The lower body also needs some attention and the DR6700 has just the answer. An air compressor has been installed underneath the seat which activates air bags in the chair. The air bags provide a soothing compression massage. The air bags are specifically designed for each major muscle group in the legs to provide effective relief.
If you are considering a high end massage chair, then you may want to check out the HEC-DR6700 from Sanyo. It has many advanced electronic features that can automatically identify trouble areas of tension and stiffness. There are many relieving massage programs built into the recliner. You also have many manual options to target exactly where you need the attention the most. The Sanyo DR-6700 is certainly a solid massage chair for your long term needs.
Field Maple and Box Elder

The sycamore is the most important European species of the genus Acer. It is a tree of western, central and southern Europe, its northward distribution falling short of the Baltic Sea, but it is much planted elsewhere and now naturalized as far north as ‘the Shetland Islands and southern Scandinavia.
It is scattered. throughout woods at elevations ranging from hill country to heights of 1500 metres, growing mainly in the mountains. Preferring a cool, humid climate and a well- drained soil, it is found predominantly in mountain valleys, scree woods and alongside mountain streams. It reaches a height of 30 to 35 metres and a trunk diameter of 150 centimetres, living for several hundred years. The bark is grey-brown, and peels off in small flat plates; the upright buds are green, the scales edged with brown. The long-stalked leaves are opposite, and the greenish flowers appear in April and May.
The honey locust is a light-demanding tree and stands up well to cutting-back. It is found in parks, and sometimes in the vicinity of country dwellings, where it is used as a thorny hedge. The wood, which is hard with reddish brown heartwood, is highly prized. The unripe pods are a favourite food of livestock and the dye they yield is used in colouring fabrics.
The tree of heaven is native to the southern half of China, and in 1751 was introduced into Europe, where it is now grown in the cities and parks in the western, central and southern areas. Thriving best in a mild climate, it grows well in warm lowland areas, particularly in cities, where it has great powers of natural regeneration on clumps and demolished sites.
It is a fast-growing tree that requires abundant light but it is tolerant of a wide range of soil types and stands up well to dry weather and air pollution. It flourishes in light soil and its wide-spreading root system serves to bind sandy soil. It is marked by a vigorous production of stump and root suckers. It is easily damaged by severe cold, and is not suitable for planting in locations with frosty winters. The tree of heaven reaches a height of 20 to 25 metres, and develops a stout trunk with smooth dark grey bark.
The shoots are thick, and have large leaf scars below the buds. The odd-pinnate leaves are very ornamental, and the inconspicuous yellow-green flowers, arranged in panicles, are usually borne dioeciously. The winged fruit is capable of travelling great distances. The tree of heaven is an important ornamental for city parks and avenues.
White Mulberry and Black Locust
Author: John Anthony
For centuries, the wild cherry has been cultivated in gardens and its seeds distributed by birds, so that now it is difficult to determine its original, natural area of distribution.
The bark is grey-black, thin, and covered with small warts. When peeled from the twig it gives off an unpleasant scent reminiscent of bitter almonds – a characteristic of this species. The fragrant white flowers in pendent racemes open in May. They are succeeded in July by black, astringent drupes which are eaten by birds. The bird cherry requires partial shade, and often forms the lower stratum of damp woods. It requires comparatively rich and moist soil to grow really well. The wood is of good quality but of little importance because of the tree’s small size.
The white mulberry requires partial shade and warm climate, Europe’s wine-growing regions providing the best conditions for its growth. It is damaged by frost, but has good powers of regeneration by suckers. It is cultivated in parks as a specimen tree, and is also good in tree avenues, and for planting in hedges.
The tulip tree’s name is derived from the shape of the flowers which somewhat resemble those of a tulip. It is a native of North America, where it grows from the Canadian border southward as far as Arkansas and Florida. It is found chiefly in moist forests on rich alluvial soils.
Today, it is widespread throughout western, central, eastern and southern Europe and in some areas is so familiar as to be mistakenly considered a native species. It reaches a height of 20 to 30 metres, the hark is deeply furrowed and the twigs thorny. The ornamental, odd-pinnate leaves appear at the end of May, and, soon after, the white, fragrant flowers, borne in pendent racemes. The false acacia has a wide-spreading root system extending far from the trunk, and nitrogen-fixing bacteria in nodules on the roots; thus it improves the soil, though at the same time it poisons it with its root excretions. The false acacia is marked by the vigorous production of stump suckers, and regeneration by root suckers. It is a fast-growing tree and requires abundant light, but otherwise will grow on poorer and drier soils.
For this reason, and because of its wide-spreading root system, it is often used for erosion control on slopes, embankments and sand dunes. In warm, wine-growing regions, it is also grown in forest stands. The flowers yield a rich harvest for bees, and the wood is of good quality.
How Tree Pollination Works
Author: James Morris
The quantity of seeds in a good year is enormous. One hectare of forest planted with five to fifteen thousand young seedlings will yield up to three million seeds for a pine stand, five million for spruce, three to five million for beech and up to a hundred million for birch.
Simultaneously, however, there are great losses both of the seeds and the young plants. Large quantities of seeds are eaten by birds and animals and many fall in places unsuitable for growth where they either do not germinate at all or die shortly after germinating, having used up the store of food in the seed. Similarly, many young trees are destroyed in their first years by drought, frost, invading grass or other plants, or by animals that feed on them. Of the huge crop of seeds, all that usually remains within a few years is less than one per cent per hectare.
Fruits that fall on the shore are carried to the sea by the needing tide, then borne great distances by the currents to be thrown up again by the incoming tide on the shores of other Itihinds and continents.
The fruits of broad-leaved trees are classified as true fruits if their origin is a single ovary, or accessory fruits if other parts of the flower are involved, or if their origin is the entire inflorescence (mulberry).
True fruits are further divided into dry and fleshy fruits.
Naturally, it would drop to the ground while being carried; and thus the offipring of a given tree might take root several hundred kilometres from the parent. In this way even these trees migrated hundreds of kilometres to the north within Itirly short space of time.
Structure of the Leaves
Author: Jamie Rainbows
The shape and the structure of the leaves of conifers, called needles, are different. They are narrow, elongate and either rhomboid, semi-circular or elliptical in cross-section in order to limit transpiration as much as possible.
Between the xylem and the phloem, there is a thin layer, called the cambium, consisting of several layers of thin-walled cells which, during the growth period, rapidly divide to form new wood on the inside and new phloem on the outside.
The primary vein divides the blade into two, generally equal, halves. In some woody plants, however, the halves are not identical, especially at the base, and these are termed asymmetric (elm, hackberry). In other species the leaf may have several veins branching out from the base (maples); such leaves are usually palmately lobed.
Most European broad-leaved trees are deciduous, in other words, they shed their leaves in the autumn. Only in southern, and in temperate parts of western Europe do some trees retain their leaves throughout the winter, e.g. the common holly, the laurel and the box. In the autumn the organic substances produced by the leaves are concentrated in the body of the tree and the leaves begin to change colour as a result of the decomposition of the chlorophyll and growing predominance of the red and yellow carotenoid pigments, along with the increase of anthocyanin in the cellular sap.
The width of the annual ring is proportional to the quantity of manufactured food substances, and corresponds roughly to the amount of rainfall and warmth in a given year, i.e. in a favourable year it will be broad, whereas in an unfavourable year it will be narrow. A narrow ring is, therefore, an indication of the unfavourable influence Of dry weather and in trees sensitive to the cold of severe frosts, etc. This correlation today forms the basis of a new study known as dendrochronology.
The process is slow and gradual, and the tree sappears unchanged. Only the amount of needles on the ground beneath i serves as an indication of its shedding rate.
What is Dianabol?
Author: Jackie Burton
Many athletes are using steroids to help them increase their performance in sports, and even though the intake of steroids is observed in many competitions, this has not prohibited athletes from abusing drugs like Dianabol.
Dianabol is a steroid that is used orally to help increase protein metabolism. It helps in building up proteins in the body and is thus used to help create muscle mass. It is an extremely powerful steroid, both in the anabolic and the androgenic terms, and has very quick results when building up muscle mass and strength in a short period of time.
Dianabol is commonly used with inject-able testosterone products, like sustanon, to help jumpstart the muscle building process in a body while the testosterone injections help build up long term strength. It can lead to a weight gain of about two to four pounds per week, for duration of six weeks. This is caused by the growth in muscles as well as the water retention. Dianabol has high estrogenic properties, which is what leads to water retention and because of this you should have anti-estrogenic medicines on hand to prevent this from becoming something serious. It is not recommended, due to the water retention, to use Dianabol very close to competitions as the water retention hinders performance.
Dianabol, like all steroids, also have plenty of side effects. The first one is caused by its estrogenic properties, which causes liver toxicity when the drug is abused. There is a huge strain on the liver when the body is being given this drug, and thus it is important to maintain low dosages, like fifteen to twenty milligrams daily. After the Dianabol is discontinued, the liver should recover as long as the dosages were kept in the recommended range.
Since Dianabol causes both the fast muscle build up as well as water retention, it can also set off hypertension and heart rate increases. Occasionally, in severe cases, it is compulsory to give an antihypertensive medicine to the person using Dianabol.
Because of the estrogenic properties of the drug, it can cause male athletes to develop abnormally large mammary glands. It can also cause an outbreak of acne on the body, since the drug stimulates the sebaceous gland. It can also accelerate hair loss in the person taking the drug.
It is vital to imbibe a lot of water while on this prescription as it will aid the organs metabolise the drug better. Taking less water can cause pains and headaches. It is suggested that you take about one or two gallons of water a day.
Like all steroids, the use of Dianabol is monitored, especially in competitive sports. Since this is a feel-good drug, and leaves users feeling happier, it can lead to over-use from time to time, and it is important to take these only under the supervision of a trained person. It is also necessary to have anti-estrogenic drugs on hand to combat the side-effects caused by the estrogenic properties in this drug.
