Cannondale Slice Triathlon Road Bike Review
Cannondale has been slowly but surely weaning itself of aluminum and currently has gone to flat carbon fiber during this Triathlon competition bike. The Ironman Six 13 Slice Si is being replaced by the Cannondale Slice Triathlon. This new bike is merely referred to as the Slice, much simpler, I prefer it all ready.
We may wonder, will the name modification of the bike, (no Ironman) mean that Cannondale isn’t going to be the Ironman contender it once was? I suppose that Cannondale just set to make a better bike and not use the Ironman name as a selling point. Good move, simply build a better bicycle.
The Italy Cannondale Liquigas Team is another vital promotional property for Cannondale. Cannondale now appears to be concentrating largely on the Pro Tour and the long road races with the new Super Six Road Bike series.
Even standing still the Cannondale Slice Triathlon Bike looks to try and do things well. It’s down tube is skinny while maintaining a very nice aspect ratio. The seat tube provides a sensible shape for the rear tire to hide behind. Good air flow passes easily with the well styled seat tube. A little on the big side the fork will not hinder performance in any way.
The next thing of importance is the geometry of the frame, and Cannondale Slice Triathlon appears to pass all the tests that we would place to the geometry of a bike frame. This bike is constructed to work best at about seventy five degrees of seat angle.
The Cannondale Slice Triathlon has an adjustable seat post, so you’ll be able to get anywhere from 75 to eighty degrees in seat position. Riding downhill steeps is second to none. This is accomplished thanks to Cannondale slowing the steering right down. The rider can realize the bike easier to steer because of the offset angle of the forks. The bike simply wants to go in a straight line.
One point of note is that the wheels and tires of the bike do not offer the simplest traction and might be a little soft for the mountains. However, the Cannondale Slice Triathlon includes a brother, the Slice three that has mavic light weight wheels for only a slightly higher cost.
Cannondale Slice Triathlon, Ultra lightweight, Ultra strong, and therefore the Ultimate in fun.
