Custom Knife Reviews Galore
John Barker Custom Hawksbill Knife: Thank you John Barker and Ron and everyone else at Jerzeedevil.com that helped with this raffle. All I did was send Ron some cash to cover his costs and to help out with the shipping of raffle prizes, and I got this cool Custom One-off by John Barker. John does some really nice grinding with these, and the Busse-style hole in the guard deal is sweet.
Frank Niro Eggerling Damascus Knife: Another Beautiful carved folder by knife artist Frank Niro. Niro’s work is not well known, but he has a very devout band of followers that buys a lot of his knives, and they all sell. If you ever handle his work you will see why, as there are not many makers out there that will sell this quality of work for anything even close to what he asks for price-wise.
Paul Chen Tiger Katana Sword: This is the first Japanese Style Katana sword I have ever owned, so my impression of it is that of a beginner sword collector. I picked it up for a pretty good price, and really enjoy it for what it cost. I think it’s a really well made and beautifully construction sword, with a nice balance and feel to it. I have never cut with it, nor have I ever cut anything with any sword I own.
Spyderco Cricket C29S Ying Yang Knife: The Spyderco Cricket is probably considered one of the ‘cutest’ knives on the market, and is certainly the knife with some of the most female appeal, so embelishing it with some Sante Fe stoneworks work seems natural. Of all the knives I’ve shown to women, the Cricket is definately the one that appeals to them most, and this Ying Yang modified one certainly takes the cake.
Spyderco Lum Chinese Folder C65 BLP: The legendary Bob Lum has designed several folders for Spyderco, and the Chinese Folder C65 is probably the most elegant of them. This is the limited edition Blue Lum Chinese Folder, which was produced in very limited numbers – The standard edition folder is Green. These things can sell on the secondary market for over $300 not bad for a production Spyderco!
Klotzli Michael Walker ACC Knife: This was the second Klotzli knife I have ever owned, and is probably one of the tougher ones, if you can even say that about a Klotzli. They are very finely crafted Swiss Made knives, but very unlike their swiss Brethren, the Victorinox Swiss Army knives. These are lightweight tactical gents knives, leaning more towards gentleman than tactical.
Spyderco Blackhawk C24 Folding Knife: The Spyderco Blackhawk C24 is a very rare Spyderco of days gone by, and as you can see the example here is not in fantastic shape. I picked this up in a trade with a fellow from Russia. Don’t see these available very often at all, and probably bring in close to a couple hundred dollars when mint with the box if not more.
Paragon X-O Lite Manual Folder Knife: The Paragon X-O Lite folder was probably one of my most disappointing folder purchases ever. I really had high expectations of this knife, but they were let down when I received it. Paragon manufactures mostly automatic knives, and does not seem to have a website. They do seem to still be in business as their knives can still be purchased through a number of online dealers.
