Board shorts have been around for a good number of years. Initially when it first came onto the scene, surfers were primarily the ones who wore them as they were designed for them in mind. The ability to dry quickly and endure long hours of use in the sea and under the sun were big draws for them.

However, board shorts designers started to make them more fashionable in order to increase demand from the surfer crowd. This caught the eye of other beach goers and beyond, as many would want to look good too when going outdoors. They also appreciated the convenience and comfort provided by the attire and it soon caught on globally.

Now, you have just about everyone wearing board shorts anytime, anywhere. Be it a trip to the mall, or going camping, the simple piece of lower body wear is both convenient and functional. With new designs constantly introduced, the affordability of the shorts is another plus point for buyers.

There is a wide range of activities that can be performed with a pair of them on. One that comes to mind instantly would be at the beach where they are perfect for anything you do there. This can be swimming or wakeboarding, or you might just want to look good sitting by the waves.

We often go for a swim in the pool wearing a simple pair of trunks or for women, the one or two piece swimsuit. The board short is quickly taking over as most people’s choice of swimming gear. You can play water sports in board shorts. You can also wear them to work in water environments. The offering of better flexibility and fabric technology to provide maximal performance in such environments make them an ideal alternative to more traditional workplace attire.

Comfort is a huge concern for many of us even at home. This has been exacerbated by the hot weather we are beginning to experience in greater frequency. Style does not have to be sacrificed totally for comfort though when one wears board shorts at home.
