Division 2 Basketball – A Great Opportunity
If you love college basketball, you need to check into division 2 basketball. Basketball at all levels is a great sport to watch, and basketball at this level is some of the best you will see.
Great For Fans
Division 2 basketball is considered by some basketball junkies to be the absolute best basketball to watch. Players at the level are usually just as skilled as their division 1 counterparts, they are just usually not as big. Players at this level are often two to four inches shorter than the players who play their same position at the highest level.
What makes basketball at this level so much fun to watch? The primary factor is intensity. Division 2 basketball is made up of smaller schools from smaller towns with players that have played against each other since a very early age. Also, these smaller schools can’t afford to travel the entire nation playing different schools, so they play the same schools year in and year out and the rivalries become very intense.
Great Talent & Skills
I learned about Division 2 basketball as my son was being recruited for college basketball. As we began to get out and visit some of these smaller schools, my eyes were really opened. I just didn’t know what kind of talent, skill, and intensity level existed at this level.
What makes it really great is that unlike trying to get a court side seat for a big rivalry like UNC vs. Duke or Kansas vs. Oklahoma, you can usually sit right down on the floor level and really get a feel for the game. When you do, you’ll discover just what you have been missing.
A Great Opportunity For You
If you are a high school athlete looking to play college basketball, don’t forget about these smaller schools. They need great players and many of these coaches would love to hear from you. Send them your athletic resume and you could end up playing division 2 basketball!
