Down Sleeping Bags
Sleeping outdoors using sleeping bags have come a long way from the old rolled up cotton bed that is going to cause you major back pains or a lumbar problem. One of the major reasons why you go camping is that you and who ever you bring along with will bond and enjoy nature in its entire splendor.
A dependable down sleeping bag offers shelter from a bad weather, keeps you warm and a nice place to sleep in. Down sleeping bags comes in a simple blanket-style bag that folds in half and uses a zipper to close up, and is generally used for all occasion because you just curl or roll it up which saves valuable packing space. Or the so-called mummy bag wherein the sleeping person is wrapped in the down sleeping bag which is best used for extreme cold conditions because there is no space for cold air to come in contact with. They save more packing space because you just stuff it in the duffel bag.
For all an all type of weather, blanket type down sleeping bags is the best. You just lay there, fold it in half and use the zipper to seal yourself in. You will have room to move around with and of course protection from the cold. For extreme cold weather, the mummy type is best used for the down sleeping bags feather’s keeps your natural body heat safely from seeping out, and the cold air from coming in. Both types are lightweight and can easily be rolled to save you precious packing space and of course from breaking your back.
Down sleeping bags are generally made from geese feather and have you ever imagined how these birds of flight keep themselves warm even in winter time. These feathers repel moisture and keeps the birds warm even when wet. The general premise of a down sleeping bag is to mimic the bird’s natural ability to withstand cold weather by using the feathers as a natural barrier.
Wash your down sleeping bags only when needed for washing it often may cause to the feathers to sog because the natural oils of the feathers are washed away by harsh solvents on the soaps that are used most especially in dry cleaners. Either hand wash or use a front load washer at a laundromat using cold water and a mild soap like Woolite or Ivory flakes. Don’t add any fabric softener or bleach and tumble dry on the lowest setting.
Quality down sleeping bags is expensive so you may want to take very good care of it. If cared for properly, it is going to serve its purpose for years on end.
