Electric Golf Trolleys – Do You Have To Be Over 65 To Benefit From One?
Up until fairly recently, if you had asked me this question, my answer would have been “Yes”. The main reason being my ego – I am 46 years old, and I have seldom used a pull trolley, let alone an electric golf trolley.
I held this view, simply because:
– I walk a lot less during a round, because there aren’t any no-go areas if you are carrying a golf bag.
– I can concentrate on my next shot, instead of worrying about my trolley being in my golfing partner’s way.
– Only old people use electric golf trolleys!
Recently, I have changed my opinion about this. My golf game has gradually got worse and worse since I turned 40, even though I had significantly increased my practise hours to try to put things right. It didn’t matter what I tried, my handicap just kept on increasing, so I eventually sat down to look through my score cards to see if I could identify any pattern (e.g. were specific holes killing my scorecard). This soon identified that the majority of my bad scores happened during the last six or seven holes, which i couldn’t understand, because my three favourite holes are 15, 16 and 18.
It wasn’t until I was discussing my findings during a game, that my usual playing partner said “You are tiring from hole 11 or 12! You need to save a bit of energy – forget your silly ego about still being young, and buy yourself an electric golf trolley!”.
I couldn’t forget about my ego, so I used my dad’s electric trolley, and only played at times I knew my usual playing partners wouldn’t be on the golf course. The improvement was really fantastic – even on the first round, I lowered my average score by an impressive five shots! Another great benefit was that I didn’t need a nap after a round. I used my dad’s electric golf trolley five or six timesl, and my scores were a lot lower than my old average, and I was much less tired – I began to enjoy my golf again!
Convinced, I treated myself to a remote controlled electric golf trolley, and i haven’t looked back since. My average score is eight shots less than when I was carrying a golf bag, and I can now do something after a round, rather than simply falling asleep! I am now a firm believer that anyone over the age of about 35 would benefit a lot from buying an electric golf trolley. The fact that you are much less tired allows you to concentrate better, and it stops you from hitting lazy, tired golf shots.
I know I sound a bit like Victor Kiam (if you remember him, you definitely need an electric golf cart!), but “I was so impressed with electric golf trolleys, that I bought a company to sell them”.
