Hunting With A Bow Guide

If you are considering bow hunting for deer there a few things you need to know so that you increase your chances of making a kill. The most important part of bow hunting is to be able to hide and get close to your prey.

When out hunting you will stick out like a shore thumb and will never get a good chance to fire that bow of yours if you don’t find a good hiding spot. Experienced hunters know well that deer, especially during the end of the hunting season, are extremely cautious when entering or approaching open hardwoods.

The best place to position yourself when bow hunting is in forested areas. During the fall though when leafs have fallen you will need to find areas with pine. The good thing is that prey like deer also feel more comfortable and carefree when entering such areas.

Have in mind that the best range to fire a bow is within a 50 yard radius. It is imperative that you find a good spot to hide. Staying on the edge of this area will inevitably drive your prey away.

It is one thing to stay out of sight of the prey and an other to make sure that the animal makes its way closer to you. To achieve that you need to be in its path while silent and hidden. This way the animal wont hear, see or smell you and make its way closer to you. Staying alert is very important because sometimes a deer for example can walk right next to you with even seeing it.

Deer will be more likely to sneak up to the hunter in this type of area. They occasionally snap a twig in pine thickets but could sneak up behind you without making a single sound. That’s why many hunters prefer to have hearing equipment with them during these kinds of hunts.

A good bow, arrows, warm clothing, boots and patience are a few things you will need to bring along with you on your bow hunting trip. If you have the right gear with you and you are accustomed with your well functioning bow you should be able to do well on your bow hunting trip.
