After repeating their win in 2006, the Gators won the first basketball National Championship in the history of the state of Florida, on April 3, 2006 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Florida Gators won against the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2007 to win the SEC tournament title for the third consecutive year. This allowed them to join Kentucky and Alabama as the only schools that have ever won 3 successive SEC Tournaments.
