Mode Of Transport Influences History

From time immemorial, people have used boats and ships of various kinds to cross the seas and make their way across various countries long before the advent of airplanes. If you consider history, you will find that the pages of history bear testimony to the fact that many famous expeditions as well as important land discoveries that have happened on account of the usage of boats and ships. Boats of various kinds and of every size and for every purpose have been used from ancient times. From Christopher Columbus and Vasco do Gama and Magellan, there have been many celebrated sea farers who have created history by their exploits in boat exploration.

Before the advent of airplanes, ships were the primary mode of transport across the seas. Brave sea farers, merchants and even conquerors would set sail in a bid to discover new lands, markets and riches. Some of the old world charm and magic is still found in our modern day ships and cruise liners that set the standard in luxury and charm. At the same time, there are also more humble versions of boats in the form of fishing vessels, ferries, dhows and canoes. In its very basic form even a log wood raft can be said to be a kind of boat.

Those who enjoy boat rides as part of tourist programs spend hours in such boats being shown some of the more interesting water related spots, like islands, backwaters, lagoons and also marine wild life viewing expeditions. It makes a lot of sense to have cup holders in such boats or ferries as these can add a great deal to the joy and convenience of boat travel. Travelers like to sip beverages when they are traveling which is where the cup holders come in handy. Cup holders are useful in ensuring that cups and glasses are held in place securely so that the contents may not spill out and create a mess.

There is a sea change in the way cup holders are used on account of the Velcro fastening mechanism that is used to quickly and effortlessly fasten the cup holder without any fuss. Fastening a cup holder is no longer an intimidating or aversion creating task.

Those in charge of boats and ships would be quite interested in enhancing the tourist experience of their esteemed guests. If you find that the boat or ship that you are cruising on does not have cup holders, you can very well go ahead and ask for these.
