NY Jets Take on Patriots
Any fan of the New York Jets has to be feeling pretty good about their team right now. The Jets seem to be a completely new team post-Mangini, and their 2-0 start has the city of New York buzzing about the new and improved New York Jets.
The Jets looked great during the first week of football, with a big win in Houston over the Texans. Rookie QB Matt Sanchez looked like he’s NFL ready in their first game. This was very exciting.
With the departure of QB Bret Favre and coach Eric Mangini and the acquisition of head coach Rex Ryan and QB Mark Sanchez – the Jets seem to be an entirely different team then in 08′.
If rookie Sanchez can limit his interceptions, manage the game, and keep his completion percentage around 60%, there is no reason the Jets can’t make a serious Super Bowl run. The AFC is very strong this year so it won’t be easy.Mark Sanchez is the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw over 200 yards in his first three starts.
The Pats came to New York on Sunday and the Jets looked like an entirely new team. Not only was Brady limited to his first game without a touchdown pass since 2005, but the Patriots lost their first regular season game with Brady as their quarterback since December 11, 2006!
The Jets defense looked as strong as I can ever remember it looking, and new coach Rex Ryan deserves a lot of credit for reshaping a defense that struggled through much of last season.
You’d never know that quarterback Mark Sanchez was in fact a rookie, because he played with the poise that Brady usually plays with. If he continues to play at this level, I see a rookie of the year in NY.
For the first time in a few seasons, I’m really excited to be a Jets fan. This is one of those seasons that could bring us a solid run in the playoffs. If Matt Sanchez can continue playing like a veteran and their defense keeps improving, this will be a big year in NY.
