Paintball Gear: Just the Basics

Anyone can play paintball. It is a fun, exciting game that you can get started playing with only a basic gear setup. In this article, we will examine this gear and explain what you need.

Let’s be safe, and talk about goggles first. You do not want to ever go out on a paintball field without a good pair of goggles. The key here is to make sure you get a mask intended for use with paintball. Some people try to use shop goggles or a Scuba mask, which are not designed at all for use in paintball. Getting a good fitting paintball mask before you by anything else mentioned in this article.

You will also need a marker or a gun. This is what you actually use to shoot the paintballs when playing. There is a huge range of different types of markers available on the market, designed for all different budgets. Pick one that suits you and your budget.

If you plan on actually shooting your gun, you will need to purchase an air system. These come in two varieties, CO2 and compressed air based systems. The cheapest option is CO2, but it tends to perform portly when compared to compressed air systems. If you’re on a budget, go CO2, but if you’ve got more to spend consider compressed air.

Unless you plan on loading balls into your marker one by one, you will need a hopper to keep the paintballs in and load them into your marker. I suggest getting a motorized (or agitated) hopper, since this will really help cut down on your gun jamming up if you try to fire a half loaded paintball. A great help, to be sure.

You will also need many other random accessories, such as squeegees, ball pods and holders, marker repair kits, and many more. Be sure to get a good sturdy set of clothes and shoes for paintball, and be aware that they can stain. Otherwise, though, you are basically ready to play with the gear listed above.

This outlines your basic gear kit to get started playing paintball. Now, all you have to do is get out there, buy some, and start playing! Check by your local or online shop today to start getting the gear you need.
