Personal Basketball Training: An Important Component of your Basketball Success
Do you like to play hoops either as just a pastime or as a pro player? Height does matter in this sport and if you are adequate in this category, you can definitely find the right playing position that you can master.
For instance, if you are a 6 footer at the most, you might be great for the point guard position especially if you like directing plays. On the other hand, if you are taller then 6 feet, you usually will be allowed to play as a shooting guard which is a pretty exciting role since you are the one who runs offensive plays and get the chance to shoot and score!
Other playing positions such as the center, small and power forward, naturally requires players with higher height. But even if you do not have the height needed for these positions, you will still be able to find a good playing position to fit your basketball skills. Especially if you are good at it which, basically, starts with good training.
All of us starts from square one. Even Michael Jordan had to master the basics before becoming the worlds greatest basketball player of his age!
Before you can slam and shoot that ball, you need to first learn how to jump high enough. If you wish to make that free throw, you need to learn to control your nerves and follow through with a good shooting stance. Lay ups look easy but you need a lot of practice to make sure that you make them when you need them to make them. You need to learn the basics first because dunking and shooting 3-points isn’t the entirety of the game. Basketball isn’t just about shooting the ball because there are other aspects that you need to focus on.
But the question is, do you have good basketball fundamentals? While you can teach yourself about basketball training regimens, most of the time it is still advisable to get a trainer to help you on how to do it correctly to make them more effective and safe.
Advantages of Hiring a Personal Trainer:
1. He will teach you the proper methods of implementing your training.
Basketball basics maybe easy to start with, but you still need to learn how to do them properly. You can prevent hurting yourself when you are practicing the correct steps and you can perfectly improve your skills from one basic move to another.
2. Your trainer will require you to do what you need to do: Go to the gym!
Paying for a personal trainer will motivate you to get your money’s worth. And as the trainer is paid to look after your training, he is duty bound to push you to do what you need to do to succeed in your training.
3. He will be there to remind you of your motivation.
Great basketball coaches are honest to their wards because they need to let them know if they are good at what they do as well as if they are doing them wrong. When you are training for basketball, honesty is a necessity, most especially on the trainer’s part. He should let his trainee know what he is is doing right or wrong to keep him motivated.
4. He will come up with the correct program for you.
Every hoop player is different so each one needs a training program that is also unique for him. You are no exception and for you to achieve your full basketball potential, your trainer will device the best techniques and exercises that suit your athletic and physical attributes.
5. Your trainer will be there to take note and evaluate your development.
He should be in the best position to do this because he is the one who formulated your training program. He can quickly tell if it’s working or not and make the necessary adjustments to correct your training.
Not even the best athlete in the world can claim that he is perfect. Whatever your skill level may be, there will always be room for a personal trainer who will be able to guide you on a one-on-one coaching basis to help you improve on your game.
