Services The Average Condo Complex Should Provide
Living in an apartment grants several amenities: from free gyms to pools and club houses. The same kind of lifestyle can be attained by signing on with a condominium- which is essentially owning an apartment and living with others in a general community. Just like apartments, the amenities can vary, so it’s best to know what to expect before setting out to buy one.
Having a pool is something the average middle class family is going to have to strain in order to achieve. Pools can be very costly to install, maintain, and then repair if they should ever fall into disarray. They are perfect for the condo environment, however, since the dues of all the tenants should easily pay for pool maintenance. A sauna or jacuzzi are also two more amenities to look out for that are great to have.
A theater or movie house with a constantly updated library of movies is one of the newer ideas that seems to be circulating around the condominium world. Movies that are in high demand will probably be hard to find initially among populated condos, but overall it’s nice to be able to go downstairs and pick up a movie any time entertainment is needed.
Garaged parking is a must for anyone with an expensive car. Without being garaged, the car could be vandalized, stolen, or broken into. Weather such as ice and snow or extreme heat could also wear the vehicle down. At the very least, look for a condominium that offers parking that is roofed- allowing the effects of poor weather to be curbed.
Lawn care is an actual amenity, as some complexes might want to save money and have the tenants share responsibilities. Sometimes the complex can save money by allowing select tenants take care of the work in exchange for a discount on monthly dues. In fact, this sort of system works great for desk clerks and other positions in the condo that would otherwise have to be outsourced to outsiders.
Ritzy condos do exist, if that would be something that you would prefer. Landscaping is everything for the upper class, who like to feel at peace no matter where they are on the property. Condos that are on the outskirts of town show the most promise, but do charge more than those within city limits. It becomes a trade off between enjoying extra amenities and the convenience of living in a city.
Final Thoughts
Buying a condo is very similar to buying a home. You will have to go through the mortgage process, keep current on payments, and then of course keep current with dues that the board of directors decided to charge. It may or may not be more cost effective than owning a home.
