If you do not completely lock out your elbows while performing db flyes, you will place a lot of stress on your shoulder joint and the supporting tendons and ligaments. Often times, this high amount stress on your shoulder will lead to a torn muscle.</p>
<p>Another error in performing dumbbell flyes in an extremely fast tempo. If you move too fast during this exercise, you are just opening yourself up to some sort of injury. Always remember to move at a reasonable pace during this exercise. Do not move up and down so fast, take your time and really feel the muscles in your chest during each repetition. Moving too quickly may lead to incorrect form during this exercise, making your body building and weight lifting less effective.</p>
<p>Having known the most common errors in dumbbell flyes you must also know the most common types of injuries as a result of improperly performing dumbbell flyes. First among the list is a ruptured ligament or shoulder tendon. Shoulder injuries are common with this exercise, so it is important that you take your time and learn how to perform dumbbell flyes properly right from the start. Back injury may also happen due to bridging or doing an arch using your lower back. You can greatly cut down on lower back injuries by simply keeping your lower back in contact with the bench at all times. In order to avoid bridging you need to compress your stomach muscles in order to keep you lower back down.</p>
<p>If you are performing dumbbell flyes for the first time, start out with a light weight that will allow you to really focus on learning good muscle building form. After you&#8217;ve spent some time practicing the exercise, then you can move onto heavier weights.
